I transitioned from a buzz cut to longer hair (about 2 inches long) over the last few months. When it reached the length that it started looking unkempt, I used a hair gel to keep it in place. The hair gel worked, but left a crunchy sensation in my hair. I could comb out the crunchiness, but then my hair looked frizzy. I transitioned to this hair tonic about a month ago and I love it. It keeps my hair from blowing around wildly, while still looking natural with no plastic sheen or crunchiness. I was concerned it might dry out my hair because one of the main ingredients is alcohol. But that doesn't seem to be a problem. In fact, it leaves my hair feeling thicker and softer than the gel did. It has a distinctive smell that reminds me of an old school barbershop, in a good way. The smell is pretty strong when you first apply the tonic, but the smell dissipates quickly once the tonic dries. It's not like some aftershaves where the smell follows you around like a cloud all day. Perhaps most importantly, the wife approves!

Pleasant fragrance. Removes static and flyaway. As easy to use as water. Makes hair more manageable without weighing down. Not at all greasy. Only a small amount is needed and hair stays in place. Great product and economical. It is the best product of this type that I have used.

Great smell sans feel. The plastic bottle will burst with even a modest fall of 12” (30cm) on an tile floor…. Making your entire apartment smell like a barbershop. Neighbors will inquire if you are in cosmetology or barber school after the bottle shatters. Police may inquire if you are trying to cover the scent of a corpse. This Hair Tonic is GREAT…, just careful when handling the plastic bottle…..

I’ve really been enjoying Clubman Pinaud Hair Tonic. I enjoy the smell and use it between washes, and it always leaves my hair feeling great—light, refreshed, and healthier overall. I’m on my second bottle, and I’ll definitely be purchasing it again

It’s been decades since I have used hair tonic. My hair turned grey, and thinned out and for several years I just buzzed all the hair off. I decided to let it grow back and when it did it was very thin, very dull looking, and would just float around Bernie Sanders style, which made me crazy. So, I thought maybe it was time to try putting something on my hair to see if it would help. Help it did. The tonic soaked into my hair and made it much fuller and much more shiny. After a couple of days the improvement was very noticeable. Easy to comb or brush, it stays in place and it looks great. It doesn’t feel greasy or oily either. Good stuff!

I purchased this tonic after reading other's reviews of it, as well as owning Clubman's talc and after shave. I love the smell! I don't have dry scalp or hair loss issues, but wanted to get the fresh/tingling sensation on my head that other's praised, and have the signature Clubman scent on my hair. Also, since old-school barbershop fans like it, how can you go wrong? Overall, this is quite an alcohol-centered scent, moreso to my nose than the Clubman scent itself. It's definitely no where near as pronounced as the after shave on one's skin. I rub it into my hair and scalp after a shower when my hair's still a bit damp, and I really do get more alcohol than anything else. I can't say my scalp tingles at all, and honestly after maybe 10 minutes I don't detect any Clubman aroma anywhere near me. This tonic does allow for easy styling/combing of hair, and it's hold is slight but quality throughout the day. My hair stays in place (as I want it) all day, without a dry look or super-wet look or a hard/crispy feel. My fingers easily can run through my hair, and it just looks clean and natural. At first I felt like it looked a little greasy, but it's not really. Makes the hair seem just subtly damp, which is nice. So I would recommend this to someone looking for a more natural/casual-looking alternative to gel or Axe, but don't count on having the beautiful Clubman scent around much. It's very faint and just doesn't last at all. Honestly, I'd say save your 12 dollars and just style your hair damp after a shower while using a little Pinaud Clubman aftershave on your hands. That will really do the job, you'll get the signature smell of barbershop, and only spend 7 bucks on the aftershave. But I can't say don't purchase this if you're curious. It's pretty good and a memory of a bygone gentleman's era.

Love it. Smells great works great which is hard to believe that just a liquid not a gel would have such a good hold on hair without weighting hair down. Leave my hair feeling great.

My barber used this about ten years ago and I was hooked. I can’t comment on what it does to my hair- nothing much, I’m guessing- but it smells great in summer and helps with sweaty Panama hat hair :)

Isn't greasy, has a manly fragrance, and holds the hair together nicely.
