Magnetic brass?
The "brass" is magnetic, but they do work and seal well for now. I just can't imagine they will hold up over time considering their ferrous nature.

Seals in them lasted a day
If you have a child that wants to act like they are doing HVAC work or something, this would be a good toy for them. For practical us, they are a joke. Within a day of hooking up to three different units, the seals were shot. Make matters worse, replacement Yellowjacket seals won't even fit in them. Don't make the same mistake, spend the extra to get a decent set of these. Don't waste your money on this garbage.

This product’s quality is disappointing. After only 3–4 uses, it began to leak, which indicates a need for improvement.

NOT FOR 134A! for r12
these are great for r12 shut off hoses but they are not for r134a at all. both ends are made for r12 hoses. they will not go on the bigger machine thread the r134a hoses have. I did not read the specifics in the title. these are 1/4 SAE thread but r134a is 1/2" machine thread. if you need R12 hoses, these are the ones to get. If you need r134a hoses, these won't work without buying adapters for both ends for each hose. seller offered a full refund and I accepted. I did not ask for a refund but seller offered, so I rank this seller 5 Star!
