This practical and inspiring guide to creating and using natural dyes from plants, offers information on current environmentally friendly dyeing techniques and more than 65 species of plants and natural dyestuffs. This comprehensive book outlines how to: Select fibres and plant parts Choose the right methods for mordanting and dyeing Obtain a range of gorgeous colours from every plant. Wild Colour is the all-in-one resource for fibre enthusiasts, including knitters, sewers and weavers gardeners who are interested in new uses for traditional dye plants and eco-conscious DIYers who want authoritative information about the natural dyeing process and the plants that are essential for it. Review: Excellent book - So very informative Review: Really comprehensive dyeing instructions - This is a really great dyeing book, which is used by the tutors at Macclesfield Silk Mill, who run one day natural dyeing courses. It has a page for each plant. My favourite feature is the 'Colour Swatch Guide', which shows what colour you will get with an alum mordant, what colour the dye on the fibres looks like and what colour you will get with an iron modifier, after dyeing. Inspiring beautifully illustrated and informative book
This is a wonderful book. It is organised and illustrated so well. It gives clear guidance and instruction on the plants, how to extract the colours from them and the methods used to produce dyes from them, as well as how to make the dyes colour fast. I would highly recommend it, its pages are a joy to leaf through, so full of colour and information.

What a beautiful book
Great, practical book, with fabulous colour illustrations. Of particular use are the colour swatches down either side of each page, showing the various pigmentations of blends of mordant/dye etc. Makes you want to start dyeing things immediately...
