Anchor HockingClassic Glass Food Storage Containers with Lids, Red, 16-Piece Set

There are quite a number of glass storage sets out there but I selected this for a few reasons: The glass containers are made in the USA. Anchor Hocking has been around a long time and has a reputation for quality. The price was reasonable. This set has the basic shapes and sizes I could really use. It's freezer safe and can go in the oven and in the microwave. Glass storage containers don't retain odor. Now, all that said, a few caveats. I found this set so useful, I could really use an additional set because I am freezing more (which is why I bought these in the first place!) The smooth shapes mean you have to be careful when they are wet or your hands are wet or greasy and glass gets hot! I also noticed the lids fit so tightly they are sometimes difficult to pry off, so if you have weakness or arthritis in your hands and fingers, you might struggle or need assistance. However, that tight fit also keeps the contents contained. I'd recommend this set for a single person or maybe a couple who do some cooking/freezing and/or who need to store some leftovers. I wash these by hand and the containers and lids come clean easily. A good purchase.

I bought a Chinese product first and they were terrible, chipped right away and the chips started to leave ground glass in them. Anchor is American made product and made to last with great quality. No problems a great product and made to last.

I have always been a little frustrated with plastic food storage containers. Though there are cheap ones and quality ones and you get what you pay for, eventually they ALL disappoint in one way or another. Commonly, the corners of the lids crack, or the lids warp. Or, my personal worst- the kids or DH melt them in the microwave. Not totally, but just enough to get that rough inner perimeter degrading. You know what I’m talking about!This plastic user had been hesitant about buying glass food storage containers, but my fears were unfounded. Anchor Hocking makes a great product. The glass is thick and doesn’t chip with the bumping that sometimes occurs doing dishes in the sink or loading and unloading the dishwasher. I even dropped one off the counter with no issues.This set of containers is crystal clear with red lids. Great selection of sizes.I have less food waste because I notice what is inside them anytime I glance into the fridge. I remember to use what’s in there, as opposed to finding “a science experiment “ lost and forgotten in the back of the fridge! Poor thing. I highly recommend this set.

Update- I've had these for over 6 months, and have had no issues. I even dropped one on the floor the other day and didnt shatter!Awesome. Delivered completely unharmed. I just received my set today, so I don't know how they perform.I decided on the Anchor Hocking brand over well known and trusted Pyrex because I read an overwhelming amount of negative reviews here on Amazon about the Pyrex sets shattering randomly. This set suits my needs. I just need them to store food in the fridge for my roommate and I. I'm including comparison pictures of the set next to other household items to give you a perspective on the size of the set. (A normal sized coffee cup, a plastic sandwich snap container, and a Pillsbury Grands! 5 big biscuits container) I purchased the 16 piece set. It was only $22 approximately as of January 30th, 2018. I don't use my current Pyrex glass storage containers in the microwave as of yet, and if I did, they especially wouldn't be heated with the lids on.I mention this because I've seen other reviewers commenting on how the plastic lids of this Anchor set distort shape after being heated. The glass on these is sturdy and good quality. I’ve put in the microwave and dishwasher with no issues. BUT the lids are cheap and not air tight. I’ve had soups spill out of the bowls with the lid on. Just not great and would be worth the investment for them to redesign the lids.

Delivery came faster than expected. I just got them, and haven’t used them (except I did package some food in two for my lunch). I did some research before I decided to go with these. Of course my first choice was Pyrex, but the more I read about them, they admit to having traces of led in their products, and that it’s under the “legal limit”. Anchor Hocking products are candmium / lead free. They are also reasonably priced. They came carefully packaged. Every container is in tact, including the lids. They tell you not to microwave the lids, so I’m not going to. It also tells you they are not oven safe!! Like most glass, so keep that in mind. I’m sure they can handle the heat, but I rather heat my food without the top anyway so I’m fine. Def recommend.

The product is great, just what I was looking for. The shipping/packaging are another story. First shipment - one lid was broken, requested replacement lid only, received another full set of which one container was shattered in box.

All the lids fit and nothing was broken!
