For 9 Dollars (as of September 2024) this is slightly cheaper than from the hardware store. The quality is about the same. The length is a bit weird, but easier to ship I guess. So if the price is right, this can be a good deal. Five stars from me.

This is basic aluminum bar stock. It's even and straight, and the ends are cut cleanly at 90˚.The description of the bar stock says it is "finely processed to have a smooth surface." I don't think this is accurate.The two bars I received had long streaks down the length of the bar, as well as lots of scuffing and some moderately deep scratches. They could be sanded out and none of them are deep enough that sanding would significantly change the dimensions of the bar, but it's certainly not what I would consider to be smooth.It will still function, but you're going to have to sand or polish quite a bit to get it to be smooth.Also worth noting is that if you need this to be truly 1.00 inches by 0.250 inches, it's going to be slightly small. The true dimensions are 0.990 inches by 0.240 inches. For my use that will not matter, but if you need precision then it's going to be a touch small in each dimension.The price on this is good though, so if you are ok with the scuffs and scratches on the surface and the 0.01 inch short in width and height isn't a problem, then this is a good option.

Measured and it is as the description states.

These aluminum bars are straight and measure up to the dimensions that are listed. I used one of these to mill up a couple small parts to hold my ice scratchers on my snowmobile. The aluminum went through the mill nicely and was smooth after running the end mill along the piece. This aluminum compares up to other sticks of aluminum that I have used in projects in the past.

These bars are exactly as described and to the Imperial dimensions listed rather than the closest metric equivalent. The material exhibits no discernible defects (voids, scars, etc). The ends are visibly saw cut, but smooth enough that they need no additional finishing to be used in many applications. For machined parts you'd probably still want to mill them.It machines well. I have incorporated one as a buss bar for my etching tank.Good stock.

These 6061 aluminum bars are essentially as described. At $8 for two pieces they are a little more expensive than online prices, but they are much cheaper when shipping from other suppliers is added which is more than the cost of the bars. So when fast shipping at no additional cost is considered, as long as you have Amazon Prime, this is an excellent source. As for the bars themselves they are fine. They are mill stock and are described as good for construction or decorative purposes. I would agree with the former but not necessarily the latter. The finish is fine but definitely not as unblemished and smooth as would be suitable for decorative purposes without further finishing. The cut ends are square and extrusion dimensions are presumably metric based. So the length is exactly 10", but I measured the width as 25.16 mm and the thickness as 6.025 mm. So the width is very close to 1" but the actual thickness is about 5% less than a full quarter inch. This is pretty typical and makes no difference unless you need exactly 0.25" thick material.

This is not 1 inch by ¼ inch aluminum flat bar. The dimensions are metric and it is under sized in both directions. The length is the only thing that is accurate. Since it is undersized, I can’t use it for the project I had planed for it.
