When I took it out of the stuff sack my impression was good quality material and stitching

My tarp arrived timely. When I took it out of the stuff sack my impression was good quality material and stitching. However the center tie out was off center. I set it up the next day to check water proofing since it was due to rain. There were a few spots where water was permeating the fabric. I attached photos to show both. Overall I like the product. I treated it with silicone water shield and seemed to cure the leaking issue. I'm fairly new to setting up tarps so not sure how the center tie out will affect me. This is my first product review. I wanted to give feed back to help the Company with quality control identification. I thought the price was good and would recommend this product to others.

Good design, poor hardware

I just looked at the new pics, it's possible that it has been redesigned. The silver grommets are what came installed, the brass/steel are my repair. The good: The overall design of the tarp is exactly was I was looking for. It's a little heavy and a little bulky, those are two trade-offs I was willing to make considering the price and versatility. I wanted something that I could use for my hammock that could also double as a lean-to in the event I had to ground camp. This seems to fit the bill. The bad: the grommets are extremely soft, like aluminum soda can soft. With a minor load they buckled, warped and pulled loose. I use a simple method of running a ridgeline the inserting a small loop of rope through the grommet with a stick theough the loop to secure. As soon as I put a little tension on the line, the grommets folded in half! Thankfully this was during a backyard test. The repair: I used a brass grommet kit from Lowe's (≈$7) and some steel washer for extra reinforcement. Should be sufficient, but is really disappointing that I needed it within minutes on a brand new tarp. The undecided: I was hoping this would be the only tarp I needed. I like the design well enough that it's still going with me, but I'll have a backup in case the repair doesn't work as well as I hope, or if the stitching/waterproofing is the same grade as the grommets.

Not Too Bad

So far, so good. I appreciate the updated hardware. They got rid of the brass-colored grommets and went with sewn in guy line access points that worked well last week while we camped in northern Michigan and used this tarp as a shelter. We experienced some decent gusts of wind and 48-hours of rainfall. The material held up great and we did not experience any rips or leaks. I do wish there were a few additional guy line access points on the tarp but I will have no problem stitching in my own next chance I get.So... my only major concern is the quality of the aluminum stakes. They are not of the best design. Each stake has 3 indentations in each run to act as access points for the guy line. The issue is that because there are 3 of these, the lower one weakens the stake and bends it when you encounter an obstacle in the ground ornif the ground is particularly dense. The result was two snapped stakes in one trip while using my boot to sink the stakes. Because of this, I was required to use sticks to anchor the lines. So in my opinion, many companies try to provide aluminum stakes that look the same as the high-quality MSR Groundhog stakes, but they are simply not all created equal. As such, I’ll need to order an alternate set of stakes to use for this tarp.I’ll update this review as I use it more. But overall, it was worth the $37 I paid while it was on sale. You can spend a small fortune on waterproof tarps so I can’t say that the issues I encountered were real-breakers.

Practical and sturdy

I bought this fly over a month ago, but haven't had the chance to field test it until this past weekend. I had it near the treeline at 11,300' elevation in the Rockies. First night was calm, but the second night offered hail, rain, and stronger winds.First a note on customer service: very responsive and quick. The first fly that arrived had two tiny pin holes near the ridge -- I was going to put a drop of superglue on each. Instead, customer service sent me a new one fly. I noticed the design of grommets changed slightly. The fly is well-built with sturdy fabric, waterproof. It seems to weigh twice as much as my hammock, but it's worth it. My hammock is an ENO single, and the fly extends just over it. I like the swallowtail shape, as it provided good coverage from the winds and the rain. I could adjust the angles of the fly -- providing more shelter from the windy side, and more space on the other. I hung my hammock high enough to have sideways protection, and there was still plenty of head space. See the photo of my with reading a book.To hang the fly, I used the continuous ridgeline method -- google "ultimate hang Continuous Ridge Lines" for details. The fly comes with six sections of paracord -- it's black and thin, and I replaced it with thicker orange. The black ones are really hard to see, and are easy to trip on. In fact, my son's friend did trip on it, fortunately didn't rip anything. On our last day, hail and rain came back to pelt us. It was great to roll up the hammock and pack my backpack under this fly. And then all other family members did the same. The fly was the last thing to be taken down, and it would have been easy to dry it along the way if we had another night out.I am very satisfied with this fly, and look forward to many more adventures with it.

It was super strong, high quality material

I received the rain fly and used it within a few days of getting in for my hammock tent in the woods. It was super strong, high quality material, great setup, and kept me mostly dry through the night (it was raining a little bit, nothing hard).I woke up to it dripping on me. It seemed certain parts (not the entire thing) were saturated through and dripping on me. It wasn't much, but enough to know it wasn't waterproof. Upon inspecting it in the morning it seemed as if patches were saturated, and the rest was fine and dry. I guess not an even coating of whatever keeps it dry.I think it would be amazing, I just probably got a bad example. Will update if I repurchase.
