I had to return hose repair fittings priced at $18 and change for five from a certain vendor but they only delivered two due some kind of error in their system. Ordered the same deal from another vendor at slightly higher price an got five as advertised. ???

Gets stuck at one end of arc. How do I fix that?

I have sprayed WD40 on mine to lubricate the spring that flips to reverse the direction (end of the arc). This helps break up mineral deposits as well.

Can the head be wrenched out of the base and expose a 1/2-inch male pipe thread connection?

Yes, the head is removable and has a male pipe thread. I pulled mine off the base and put it on a tripod base sprinkler that had a rotten head. I don't know about the size, I took pictures but can't figure out how to post them on this page. Next to a ruler, including threads, it measures 3/4. BTW- the base is really weak if you need to stab it into any hard ground, bends very easy, but a good sprinkler head. hope this helps :o)
