It came with a single double-sided printed page of instructions. while that was not exactly impressive, it did the job. You are left guessing a bit at some functions. The USB-C interface is a snug fit.. with a delicate device it is a bit anxiety-inducing when removing the USB-C cable. Things to know:- the config.txt file has one line "IO=1" and it can be 1 to 6. Copy and paste the next part into a readme for yourself for your own reference... the language is mostly theirs, not mine..IO=01 pulse repeatable - key can interrupt - press to play, while playing, press again for next songIO=02 pulse not repeatable - key cannot interrupt - press it to play, in the process of playing - invalid if you press it againIO=03 level remains recyclable 1 - keep loop playing press and release to stop immediatelyIO=04 level remains recyclable 2 - if you press it all the time, it will play in a loop, once it is released the current music will stop playingIO=05 play/pause - press to play, press to pause, press to continueIO=06 play/stop - press to play, press to stop-There is a folder for the music.. that's where you drop the MP3 files you want it to play. It uses alpha-order when you have multiple files for teh modes that will play one file and move to the next...- it comes with one MP3 snipped in that folder and one in the root folder. I don't think it plays from the root folder at all.-The file transfer is a little slow..and it has 16MB of storage or so. I dropped in about 14MB of MP3 files and it nearly filled it... but that was 9 Christmas tunes to go with a snow globe.-I will need rubber feet to lift the snowglobe up to fit this device beneath it. and will likely need some way to attach it to the base, perhaps exposing the power switch and button.. but will likely have to remove it to charge it via the USB-C.-I tested the device on its anti-static packaging and I thought I have a bad device as the speaker sounded torn or cracked.. but when I moved it to a solid surface it was fine.-My PC gave some kind of error when I plugged it in but I just ignored it. I had it in a USB3 port and its best to use in a USB2 port.-Interestingly, when plugged in, it acts like the PC's speaker.. playing media played on the speaker.-I have not figured out if I can just leave it turned on (there is a slide-switch for on/off) and use it to play or restart.. don't know how long it will last ON and not playing. IO=0 mode (which is default) allows you to switch between songs using the button.. but doesn't seem to allow you to turn it off.. so I had to use the switch for that (EDIT: Have had it "on" for months.. playing only if somoen presses button.. barely gets played but battery has not drained so much that it will not play)- the volume button is one of those cycling settings.. that is you click it to raise volume to next level and it cycles back to low volume setting eventually. level 2 is my preferred setting.Overall I found it a good device 2-pack. Would buy again should need arise. Craftier folk can probably make great use of this.

I purchased these for a train layout project and they are easy to program and the sound is pretty good for the speaker size. They are plenty loud enough for what I am using them for.

Oh boy! Where to start with these. So for the price, these are good. They sound decent and have a long lasting battery. However... So this is my third purchase of the 2 pack. I've used them for several projects including one of those magnetic "Our Song" players that were all over TikTok, and a YES/NO button from Bluey. FYI, you cannot connect 2 boards to the same speaker. You'll let the blue smoke out. Both these projects only needed 1 sound file or song per player. I had no problems connecting to my newer, Windows 10/11 pc for the first 4. (2 each windows versions) I deleted the 2 included recordings and added my own. That being said, this last batch was a nightmare. Initially, the first board connected, I erased the included files, and got one mp3 on it. When trying to add another is where things went wrong. As others said, constant problem with "your drive has errors, fix now?" notices and disconnections started. I'd fix the drive, it would disappear and reappear in my file folder, allow me to delete the file which was messed up. When trying to reinstall the file, I'd get a replace the existing file notice which leads to a retry loop. Sometimes it would work. Problem is I needed 5 mp3s on it. After the second one installed, that was the end of anything installing. So, as others said, I pulled out the 14 year old, needs to be plugged in to work, Windows 10 laptop. Plugged in the boards and away I went. After fixing the drive on the laptop, they worked. These boards are SLOW connecting and installing but the old pc worked. Was able to install all 5 of the mp3s. Getting them to play in order was the next monumental hurdle. Spent about 45 minutes installing and un-installing the files to play in the right order. (Didnt matter) The first 2 songs worked with the last installed playing first. It was a roll of the die after that. (Yes it wasn't set to play on random) Ended up making a new folder for each individual file and was finally able to get them in the right order. Had to unplug after each change to check. A PITA but was finally able to get it working. Still a better rating and price than other mp3 modules on amazon. Would buy again.

This is a highly versatile audio playback device. I use it for sound effects for interactive puzzles. The push button switch is included. It is compatible with vibration and hall effect inputs. It is also compatible with amplifiers and larger speakers. I wish it had a better user manual that described the other inputs.

I had no problem loading up the device and playing mp3's via the push button.Once I had that working I tried to use a relay wired about 3' away from the device to trigger the playing of the recordings. It was a spectacular fail - the device was playing randomly all the time. I discovered that if I disconnected the wires, it would stop playing, reconnect the wires and it would play randomly again. Tested the relay, disconnected the relay entirely, it still would randomly play if the 3' of wires were connected. Only thing I can think of is that the play circuit only requires a tiny amount of voltage to trigger and it's probably getting some voltage via induction being wired alongside the rest of the wiring harness in my truck. Depressing, as I had four of these queued up to play for various events in my truck (door lock / unlock, etc) and now I'll need to find something else.

Works great! I use these to add soundtracks to my scale model dioramas. Multiple playback configurations and you can make your own recordings. Just be warned, it only works with MP3 files, so I had to convert some of my files from MP4 to MP3 (easy to do.)
