Nice pen for the price - some Jinhao's are better, though.

I own about a dozen Jinhao fountain pens. I love them for how inexpensive they are - for the cost of an ink converter with other pens you get the entire pen WITH a converter. I bought this variety because it is transparent and my favorite variety (the X750) didn't come in a transparent version. This variety (Jinhao 82) is very nice, but doesn't quite live up to the best in class (in my opinion) X750, for a couple of reasons.First off, the X750 nib is nicer than this one. IMPORTANT: If you want really smooth writing it is best to go with Medium nibs on these pens. The fine nibs work OK, they are just not nearly as smooth and have some scratchiness to them (or "feedback" in fancy non-critical speak). As to the mediums, the all-silver nibs that come on the X750 are smoother than the gold and silver nibs that come on this pen and another Jinhao pen, the X450. I replaced all my two-tone nibs on my X450's with all-silver nibs and will be doing so with this Jinhao 82 as well. They are available on Amazon for a reasonable price and in my opinion really outshine the (admittedly beautiful) two-tone nibs in performance.Another drawback I found with this pen, that is likely specific to the transparent version, is that after you wash it for first use, or to change inks, there are a couple of areas that retain water. Specifically in the cap and in the nib area there are "plastic within plastic" areas that water gets into that are inaccessible to a paper towel to dry. I worry that the water may not dry in time to prevent mold, mildew or staining, but I have not owned them long enough to verify that. This same issue is probably going on in the other Jinhao 82 pens, but you can't see it because they aren't clear.Another characteristic of this pen to note is that it is quite small. It is the only fountain pen I own that I prefer to keep posted when I write, with the cap on the back, because otherwise it feels a bit to small in my (average sized) hands. Despite its smallness, the ink capacity is quite decent for a pen of this size. After noting the drawbacks, I still give this pen a 5 star rating because, as with other Jinhao pens, for the price it is an amazing value. If you happen to be new to fountain pens this would be a great low cost choice if you are in love with the design. However, if you are new, my recommendation would be to get the X750 series instead with a medium nib. Further, purchase some bottled ink and read reviews for an ink that is NOT described as dry (all varieties of Pilot iroshizuku are great - yama budo, specifically, is fantastic) and get some QUALITY paper (I recommend Mnemosyne). Paper and ink quality make an INSANE difference in writing experience. With a Jinhao X750, iroshizuku ink and Mnemosyne paper you will not believe the smoothness - almost like writing on glass. Unfortunately, the better inks and papers cost more. Luckily, with Jinhao pens you can save some money because even with the super low cost they perform just as well as much more expensive pens - use that extra money for the ink and paper.

Bummer but not Amazon's fault

This was my second time purchase for this pen. Great value for the money, very nice-looking, writes beautifully, refills with the universal cartridge wonderfully IF you know how to do it, a light-weight pen sized for older school kids and women's hands. So where's my beef? I received an empty package from the post office. It either ripped the package and fell out or it was stolen in the mail. I suspect the later. This has occurred a couple times before with my mail in zip code 85738 (P.O. Box address).Anyway, it was a fine addition to my pen collection. At the price, give it a try. 🫠🫠🫠

Nib is typical Asian Medium - which means it's fine

This is an attractive pen, and it writes very smoothly. A bit smallish, but not so much that the size is a problem. It's Chinese, so the medium nib is smaller than the typical European medium - more like a fine nib.

Amazing for the price

I really like the EF nib, the portable size and the clear body. The nib writes consistently and smoothly. How it writes reminds me of what I like about the nib on my EF Jinhao 9019. It is a bit short to write with unposted (for my hands), but it posts well and is comfortable to hold when posted. The grip is pretty comfortable to hold, but is a tiny bit small for my hands (which is just personal preference).I'm not sure if it's all pens, but between the clear part of the grip and the cover around the feed, there is a small bit of irregularity or glue or something. It's not terrible, but noticeable.

Pretty good for the price, until the cap snapped in two above the trim ring

Good looking pen and performs pretty well for this price point. I’m surprised. Well, I was until just after its second ink refill the cap snapped into 2 pieces at the top of its trim ring. Off to the landfill. You’re better off buying a Sailor Compass 1911 for a keeper that’s not expensive.

Small bot ok.

This pen is short and small. Push HARD to get refill in. Probably won't repurchase. It writes well enough.

Affordable and easy to use!

Pen is easy to refill and works well! Be sure to clean your pen before use, mine was tested with blue ink and made the cleaner dark blue, was clear after a few refills and flushes. Pen is light and comfortable in the hand. Time will tell how it feels and its durability. Color is nice, might order a few more to try out some inks that stain AKA Baystate Blue!

Such a good writer

This is my cheapest fountain pen but it also writes the best. It's extremely smooth and I'm very impressed. I just wish it was a bit bigger for my giant hands.

Very impressive !!!

Just bought this pen a week ago and I can't believe how good it is at a price that defies any logic...Writes better and smoother than all my more expensive (for what ?) Waterman pens. Add some quality ink and you won't believe how good these Chinese pens are.I'll definitely order more sooner than later. Don't hesitate...

Etwas klein

An und für sich ein schöner füller. Jedoch ist er etwas kurz, und daher leider schwer zum handhaben.

Nice little pen. Writes a nice fine line.

Schade.
