Effective although can't guarantee absolute security
We have three cats in a neighbourhood full of moggie so who all, it seems, like to pinch food from each other's houses. Controlled access is therefore critical for us and for some years now we have successfully relied in this Infrared cat flap.it has done the job well although a really determined cat can, with brute force, break the ( replaceable ) clear swing door.Advantages:- infrared sensor effective-- can serve multiple cats- spare collars easily available- spare clear swing doors available and easily fitted- collars can be reprogrammed to suit a different cat flap if, like us, you have to change acworn out cat flap after a few years use.- a rotating physical lock to give any combination of in/out access/egress control, separate from the infrared lock.Disadvantages:- will not stop a really determined cat using brute force but, in 4 years, we have only suffered 2 ' tomcat' attacks that overcame the cat flap. That resulted in broken clear swing flaps that we easily replaced.- uses batteries for collars and cat flap as opposed to a mains operated cat flap- spare collars are not cheap but we have rarely had to replace one with the button batteries being the normal maintenance item, usually around 6 months.Overall, this is about as good a controlled entry car flap as we have used. Not 100% guaranteed secure but will make the lives of your cats ( and yours) much less stressful.

It does the job!
We bought this as a direct replacement, as our previous one stopped working after about 3 years. We have always found the cat flap to be pretty good, it stops other cats coming into the house which is what we want. You do have batteries to replace in both the cat flap itself and the monitor on the cat’s collar but they last for a long time, and you get a red flashing light on the cat flap to tell you that the batteries needs replacing. You do need to keep an eye on the monitor on the cats collar to see that it is still flashing green. If it’s not, then the batteries have gone flat and you will wonder why the cat is meowing outside the door instead of coming in.

Noisy and ineffectual
we purchased this cat flap after our old one fell to pieces. we have never found a compatible microchip system that works so set this up manually- or tried to. The noisy mechanism scared one cat and he would not use it. we had to tape down the clicking catch so it swings free. this meant a huge draft comes through it. the cats did then use it however when we locked it to keep them in our 6K cat nearly broke it open just by pushing it.think its overpriced and ineffectual and also very small for a medium large cat. replacing it with another model hopefully better made and less hassle.

Happy cat once again!
I bought the cat flap to replace a similar one already fitted which had developed a fault,, I hasten to add after many years of trouble free use. It works well and keeps out all cars but our own. We had a magnet type flap many years ago but as the neighbour has 4 cats with magnets was were feeding 5 cats!!!!

Great product. Easy to install and work.
Does exactly what it's supposed to. No other cats in my area have this system in their collar (yet) but with the different options for the collar it's easy to swop the collar and change the recognition system. The only reason it's a four star and not five is the small downside...the batteries on the cats collar do run out quickly. Not such a big deal as the cat is locked out and not inside the house. It's the same size as other products in the stay well range so easy to replace this for an older system by snapping on the new door to your existing opening.

It's OK but my cat will not use it, ...
It's OK but my cat will not use it, despite long training! The cat hears the flap unlock on approach and stops and reverses, then approaches, then reverses, etc, etc, until the flap doesn't work!Need the next generation bio-metrics for this one.

Very useful
Very useful and works well but took a long time for the cat to accept it. Could be engineered better and needs to be improved by someone who understands cats.

Petsafe Infrared
Works well but the moisture tends to gum up the electronics after 3 years or so - we have replaced the mechanism five times over the last 15 years. Also the plastic in the cat's tigger gets brittle and can crack meaning the batteries cannot make a good contact in the holder.
