Is the clip removable?

Yes it is. You will need a small screwdriver/torx set which are available here and at many retailers for $10 or more - and you should have a set like that anyway for eyeglasses, pocketknives, and such anyway. Also I would recommend ordering some of the purple loctite or any thread locker designed for gunsmiths because that holds lighter than the blue loctite. Lastly, put the pen in a shallow Tupperware container when disassembling so as not to lose any of the screws or other parts.
