Updated update: The replacement was never sent but I'm happy I got a refund. Update: The company reached out to me and made things right by issuing me a full refund and even offered to replace the item since I had a bad experience with the first. Thankful for companies who care about their clients and the experience we have with their products. I was excited for this item when I purchased it about a month ago. The first time I used it I liked it. I have had many pizza stones and never had a problem. By the 2nd or 3rd time a HORRIBLE chemical smell poured off of it. I had to throw away the food that i was cooking on it. The smell lingers for hours and burns your eyes, throat, and nose. I did research to see if it was user issue and tried to use it again but same issue. I don't use the stone often so by the time I discovered NOTHING could be done to fix it, I was not able to return it. I reached out to the manufacturer but have had no luck so basically threw my money away. Please be careful if you purchase this item because apparently others have had a similar issue.

IT STICKS UP THE WHOLE HOUSE! It is expected that a new product that is used in an oven might have a smell when first used but this is ridiculous. We have had this product for a while, giving it time to stop sticking. It never has. Our last one was a pampered chef and it never smelled. Our smaller pampered chef stone still doesn’t smell. We never use soap on these because it affects their performance. It is too late for us to get a refund due to giving the product time in use to stop sticking. Don’t waste your money on any of these pizza stones unless you want to have to open all your windows and doors to let the smell out. Terrible product! Update to this post. We received our new pampered chef pizza stone the other day. Used it tonight to make a pizza in the open. First use, no smell at all. No opened doors or windows just good pizza!

Pizza stones are essential for getting a really crispy crust. The key is to pre-heat the stone in the oven, and then to CAREFULLY place the pizza on the stone, keeping in mind the stone is very hot. If heating a pre-made pizza, I like to pre-heat the oven to 50F to 75F higher than the pizza box instructions, keeping in mind that the hot pizza stone and higher temperature will change the pizza box instructions. Since my pre-made pizzas are supplemented with added ingredients, the higher temperatures get me to a crispy crust, a few nicely charred edges, and properly cooked toppings.
