Pure Jatamansi (Spikenard) Essential Oil (Nardostachys jatamansi) Steam Distilled 5ml (0.16 oz)

I have been consistently impressed with the quality of Greenwood's oils. They are more expensive than a lot of what's out there and this a very high price for 5ml but they seem to be of high strength and as far as I can tell seem to be the real deal. Jatamansi has a strong sharp and earthy scent which would mix well you're making an aromatic blend but I'm not a fan of its smell over all. I'm adding it to my mix for its purported aid with skin issues (very sparingly at this price) but I have had success using oils for health purposes and am pleased with the brand so far. I have not tried this one before but it seems quite rare and the very few other brands that are available are not much less in price so I'm pretty confident of its value if the other oils by Greenwood are anything to go by. 5 stars for the quality but the oil itself is not going to be a favourite of mine at this price. If I was just going by how much I personally like the smell I'd give it 3 but it's going in with other oils to mask that and I'm sure it will beneficial to me as many other have proved to be.

This is a rather expensive oil, hence the rating. It has a slightly piquant scent with a smoky undertone and is of the usual excellent quality for this company. It has a number of qualities to it such as being anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, as well as being good against stress and insomnia. However, at these prices, I would recommend finding a different oil to achieve the same results.Greenwood Essential is an excellent company. Aside from their carrier oils (which ought to be marked as such to differentiate them), I have found them well priced. Therefore, Spikenard must be a particularly expensive oil to acquire. All oils are of excellent quality and the variety available is quite astounding. I have been able to add a number of exotic oils to my growing collection, of which Spikenard was on my 'want' list and there are yet others I had not even known were capable of being made into aromatherapy oils. All bottles are carefully sealed and come with a European plastic dropper or an additional glass dropper.

I've had other essential oils from this firm, and I'm very happy with the standard of the product. Very long-lasting in terms of scent and efficacy. I hadn't smelled this particular oil before and took a chance based on the description. It's very strong, and I didn't find it very pleasant. I don't think it's something I would either use in a diffuser, nor would I want it on my body. I'm aware, however, that the sense of smell is unique to everybody, so while I say it's not for me, it may be to other's taste.

I've used jatamansi oil for many years in homemade beauty products/soaps and this seems very good quality oil as is the bottle and is well presented in the little box, but even though this is therapeutic grade oil and pretty decent it's just very slightly more than I usually pay for a 5ml bottle so I'd probably stick to the other one I get online in the future but would come back to this if my regular was not available. as the price difference isn't huge and it's great quality.

I absolutely adore Greenwood's oils - I've used quite a few now and all seem to be of the highest quality. They're not cheap, but they are worthwhile. I tend to use mine in diffusers rather than for massaging, and get a great result with the right blends. Personally, I would describe this as a middle note - it blends well with woody bottom notes but also works with floral aromas. Spikenard is used as a relaxing oil and is great for meditation.
