I bought these for use in outdoor construction of cedar 2x4s, mostly with pocket hole joinery. Using a cordless drill with bit gave better results than using a hammer drill (probably because the wood is soft and the screw head is tapered - a hammer drill can quickly drive these too far - straight through the wood). The pointy end of the screw is durable and will pierce hardy plank (cement board).The 2" length was sufficient for most of my needs, but the 3" gave me extra peace of mind for things such as outdoor door hinges.If you are using these for pocket hole joinery, pick up some long T-25 bits. I found a set, craftsman brand, at Lowe's for ~$6 and they have held up well.

These are the best value multi-purpose screws on Amazon (I have several sizes) with a caveat. Main problem is bit jump seemingly caused by the glossy paint which covers the bit socket like the rest of the screw. I have unpainted screws with the same sized Torx head and these don't skip so easily. I tried both the T25 bit that came with the screws and a Bosch equivalent, both had the same problem. Having said that, the provided bit is welcome as all bits begin to blunt whether skipping or not. Now that I've got used to applying more pressure and ensuring the bit is normal to the screw head, bit jump is much reduced.

Just replaced 90 - 2 x 6 pressure treated boards on my dock and used 2 boxes of these screws without any breaking or stripping out the heads. The price is less than the big box stores and it's delivered to your front door. Would purchase again.

I have used these for framing a home addition with no problems. I would have rated them 5 stars except they are not quite as thick as some brands, but I had no issues with them twisting off in use.

My little Milwaukee power driving tool loved putting in boxes of these screws for my sub frame and framing of my shop. Nails work loose over time, screws do not.

Bought these to construct a small retaining wall out of rough sawn white oak. White oak is notoriously hard, and was worried that these might not be up to the challenge.Drove these all the way into white oak without pre-drilling using an impact driver and a good bit. No cam-out, the screw went in easily. No broken screws, no stripped heads. If they can handle 3 inches of white oak, they can handle anything.

I Don't understand why the holes where the bit goes are so small. It's Just ridiculous. Would NEVER Buy again.

Worked really well. Having the bit for these is another plus. Didn’t slip or split the wood once.
