Question 2

Does this come in a fitted case?  My original T50 came in a fitted plastic cast.

Mine did not.  I still have the fitted plastic case from back about 1970.  The new one fits, but the case hinges and snaps are long dead.  I have it on my to do list to make a new case of either 1/8 inch Baltic Birch (when I find some more to purchase) or expanded PVC scraps (which I do have.) There may be someone on Amazon that makes a fitted zipper case for this and multiple boxes of staples.  I have several of these cases for some of my newer tools and they are working well--may last longer than to tools.

Is this staple gun good for hanging christmas lights and garland on wood trim?

The Arrow T50 Heavy Duty Staple Gun is an excellent staple gun.  It is good for installing staples in wood, drywall, cork, etc.  Not in fiber-cement siding, brick, etc.  In the old days it was used to put woven screen wire on wood frames to hang over windows and keep bugs out of homes and offices.  It was also used to apply upholstery to wooden frames.  When plastic sheeting became available it was used to tack it up temporarily.  However, each staple makes two holes in the wood.  In time, these holes admit weather into the wood and the paint, stain and wood starts to degrade.  If you are on the coast, the degradation is fast.  Even the steel staple will disappear to rust very shortly.  You might say, "Well, I will remove the staples in January, so it does not matter."  But every year you decorate, and every year there a more little holes until the staples don't want to hold in the wood any more and you have to replace the wood to get the house painted.

Another problem is that one must be extremely careful when stapling wire.  The telephone company used to do it, and had special staple gun to make certain a staple never pierced the wire.  Piercing an electric wire can have spectacular results you want to avoid at all costs.  If you are very careful, you can avoid stapling wires, but there will be may places that are hard to reach and that is where you will put a staple right through the hot wire of the light string.  SO DON'T STAPLE ELECTRIC WIRES.

There are many other gizmos made for hanging light strings.  Some of these gizmos (hooks) are installed with staples and then the wires are hung on.  This is much safer.  But realize that rust will attack the staple and it will become useless.  Of course you might find stainless steel staples, but most folks can't tell the difference between brand-new staples.  It is still easy to accidentally use the wrong kind.

It might sound like I don't like decorations.  Well, I do like them a lot, but only if someone else does them where I don't have to maintain the building and am not responsible for anything but looking.  I have to contribute Christmas Spirit some other way!

is this stapler easy to squeeze?

It is still easy for me.  My wife also uses it.  Both with a little arthritis.  However it is powered by your hand through a pretty strong spring that accumulates the force of your hand until all of it can be applied at once to drive the staple.  It has good mechanical advantage.  If you have trouble squeezing things with your hand, or your hand tires quickly, you will be better off purchasing the Arrow electric stapler.  This is the staple gun that conquered the world.
