Needed a 13 quart container for changing the oil in my truck. Since this was advertised as 4 gallons (16 quarts) I figured I had it covered. Well just got done changing my truck oil. 1/2 hour changing the oil and almost 2 hours cleaning up all the oil that either overflowed the container.or drained out the poorly designed faucet. After about 3 gallons of oil had drained into the pan, the drain spout started dripping oil at an alarming rate.Altogether I would say at least 1/2 gallon of oil spilled out. I looked and it seems that the faucet is designed to drain oil when pan is only 3” full of oil. When this started I got out my 5 quart car oil drain container to pick up the spout runoff and there was almost a gallon in that.Bottom line is this container is poorly designed and can barely hold 3 gallons. I’m taking mine to the dump tomorrow because I’m never going to use it again. So if you want to be the lead actor in an oil spill disaster movie, thus is the container to buy.

Not sure what to say in a review of an oil drain pan. I now own 4 of 3 different types. This is as good as any of them. However, I will note some features the other pans have that this one doesn't. No top - stinky fluids stink, reusable fluids prone to dust and debris. Also, a covered pan usually has a stand off to allow a filter to drain. Spout doesn't have a cap. After you dump the pan into a longer term storage container, the spout drips since is doesn't have a cap. I can't dock any stars for these items as I was aware of what I was getting when I ordered. Does the job for the price, I am sure it will be kicked around the shop for many years. Buy with confidence, but know there are better models out there.....***UPDATE*** 11.24.2021 - I'd like to add at this point that in addition to motor oil, this drain pan has seen PS fluid, brake fluid, trans fluid, diff fluid, transfer case fluid, gasoline, coolant, carb cleaner, brake clean, and just about any other spray cleaner/solvent you'd expect to find in a shop/garage. Holds up to all of them. No color fade, no softening or breakdown of the plastic....

When I do an oil change I use the 5 quart jugs. After the change is compete I drain the old oil back into the now empty 5 quart jug. The neck on this thing isn't long enough to get it into the jug plus it turns a hard 90 down. I had to cut most of the 90 off just to get it into the jug and you still have to babysit it to make sure it doesn't plop out and fall over. I for the life of me can't find one with the long neck anymore, I guess they quit making them.

The only down side is the down spout. I suggest trimming it shorter because after you are done pouring it into another container it will continue to drip out of the down spout and you have to shove a paper towel in there to stop it. Other than that worked great to catch the 3 gallons that came out of my truck.

I have been really happy with this drain pan after several uses. Only two minor issues. The most frustrating is you can not fully drain the pan. With the design of the lip and internal spout, you will always have a little oil remaining unless you clean it out by hand towels. The other thing to be aware of is the spout will continue to drip well after you think it's empty. All in all a great pan. I would buy again.

I used this to drain coolant into and it did splatter a bit, but nothing that wouldn't have happened in another pan. The bonus was that the drain is just small enough to fit into the opening on a milk jug or coolant bottle which makes it much easier to empty out without spilling. It would be nice if there was a little bit more of an upper edge near the drain so you could pour faster without running over the top edge, but if you are careful then you won't have an issue.

I love to inspect the oil once it has been removed from the vehicle as a whole. This is white enough to catch the oil and also when removing the oil filter do you only thing I wish that this had what is the location to the side of the drip pan like a small little bass to place the used oil filter so that it can drain now and a place to put the bolt from the oil pan

hard to tell from a photo how heavy duty this product is but once i opened the box and saw it...I was very please it was not cheap material...very solid and will hold up when im dumping 7 quarts of motor oil out of it from my Dodge Ram Big Horn Hemi.....so YES...buy this its worth the money...you get what you pay for so dont cheap out...

there's really not much to say, it's big enough to do a standard oil change. When emptying the oil, the angle of the nozzle is a bit odd, but as long as you're careful, there shouldn't be any spilling.

It works exactly as you'd think and it carries a ton of liquids as it suggests. Being made of plastic its suprisingly sturdy, I've lifted it completely full and it doesnt bow at all which is comforting in those situations.

Bought as a gift, very sturdy, large, should work well for all draining purposes.

Works great when I'm paying attention and the pan is actually under the drain plug and not beside it.
