I needed a replacement set for one that had seen better days. I also wanted a nice board with algebraic notation inscribed on the edges.This set did not disappoint. The pieces (weighted) have a solid feel, and the detail on the knights is impressive. I was also very impressed by the inclusion a four tiny screw-in "feet" that offset the board from the table, thereby avoiding marring either the table or the board itself.If I had to state any quibbles, I would list only two:a) the pieces are a bit large for the board, and it feels a bit cramped compared to my 4" king set with LARGE Spanish board, andb) the edges of the board are so dark that the engraving of the a-h and 1-8 notations are a bit difficult to see.To these quibbles I would answer:a) Hey! this is touted as a portable set. Of course, it's not going to be like your heavy 22" board... andb) you can read the letters and numbers. Do you want them to be a garish white that really stands out as a distraction?Bottom line: this is a superb set, and while expensive, is a beautiful work of art.

This is a quality travel chess set. Absolutely beautiful. You can disply this one. The board has screen in felted brass legs. Not magnetic. Amazing detail for it's size. The nicesest folding set under 18" out there. The quality is unmatched. I was recently disappointed with a 13" set I purchased from House of Staunton. This was not a dissapointment at all. The only wonky thing was only one rook had the House of Chess stampoù but I really don't care about that.

Love it!! The quality is fantastic! The set was properly packed, arrived earlier than expected, thank you seller! The chessboard is made of wood, heavy, has laquer finish. The figures are weighted, craftsmanship is fantastic. I'm really happy. The set is not cheap, but it's absolutely worth it. Highly recommend this brand.

Beautiful wooden board and pieces. The board lay flat with no significant gap. Each pieces was without flaws. This was not a cheap set but it was worth every penny. Highly recommend.

If you are going to play chess, get a nice board with good pieces. That is part of the joy of the game. The board is well made. The pieces are very nicely carved, and I love that the board has notation but it is engraved into the word so it is very subtle. Everything about this set is perfect. Very well packaged too. My only minor negative is for some reason they put logos on the rooks. This is really cheesy in my opinion but I used some acetone and rubbed logos off.

Although it's a little pricey,, it's really a nice chess set. The board is seamless, the pieces look nice and are weighted. Everything is as stated and arrived on time. Bought as a gift for my son and I'm sure he will love it

I’ve been looking for a nice set for either home or travel. This is it. Very solid, pieces don’t rattle around. Board is well made and has a nice finish. Buy this and assuming you take care of it, this one will last. It doesn’t lie flat however it comes with some feet you can attach to the board.

Not really worth the price, but it's got notations.
