Is this real damascus the description says “ imported janpanese high-quality damascus steel at 60hrc±2 and 67 layers keep chef’s knives wear-resist?

NO! It is Chinese stainless with a pattern lasered on. I don’t know what hardness the steel is, but it is NOT the 58c they claim. My needle files will starch the edge, and they will not starch 440 hardened to 58c

What sharpener do you need for this?

Craig is incorrect. "Damascus" is a pattern of folded steel and had nothing to do with sharpening angle. Also, the bevel requires a 15° bevel, not 20. Because of the hard but brittle material used for the blade, whetstones are recommended for sharpening. Do not use a pull sharpener as it will chip the metal. I'd also avoid electric sharpeners.

I wash it with water every time I use it, and then wipe it right away with a soft clean dry towel or paper towel.
