Introductory Statistics

If you have to buy this book, it means you have to take Statistics, and I feel for you. Best of luck.This monster is about 4" thick, and very heavy. Not easy to lug around and pop open for a quick read but then again Statistics isn't known for being a quick read.I purchased because I am traditionally a "hardcopy" person vs. reading information online, and can't always rely on our internet connection. I lasted through chapter 4 of the hardcopy before switching to reading the free online version. I still use the hardcopy for reference but only after I've read the online version.2 main reasons I switched to online:1) online text has regular weekly updates which helped me out a few times2) online version is easier to read: the page format shows formula more clearly whereas in the hardcopy version, the formulas were surprisingly hard to locate! Often buried midway through a page or simply not flagged as an important formula. The online structure makes better note of the important formulas as well as calculator tutorials.

Gave all I needed for my class, but the paper is super thin and easy to rip

Easy to read and to do the problems

This is a free textbook. Despite that, it is a superb introduction with extensive examples and practice problems. It is legitimately free as a PDF but I purchased it for $0.00 as a Kindle edition so I can display it in class, copy out a question, or even look up a word. Formats perfectly on the Kindle. I used this text this summer to expand coverage of the normal distribution and Z-score problems beyond that offered in the required business statistics course textbook. If I teach a straight stat course for 2nd-year students I would select this text. It also articulates with MyOpenMath via a Udemy course so that online students can have a genuine textbook.

It's exactly as describe and of good print quality. Larger and thicker than I expected.

I'm entirely satisfied with the actual purchase and shipping, it's merely the book itself I take exception to. That said, it was required for my coursework and was after all cheap. Frankly, the price is right for this book, because it is NOT the level of instruction or quality I would expect from a college textbook.Every other college level math book I have used provided enough of a primer on formulas and techniques to learn autodidactically. This book often gives a brief history of the techniques, then the majority of the chapters will be example problems for you to work on your own, I honestly would have been lost without my notes from class.

I wouldn't say the book would be my first choice for learning statistics. It relies more on examples than actually teaching the concepts of statistics. Good if you want something to challenge your brain, but not the best for teaching the subject.

At first I expected a flimsy, medium quality book for the low price. When I recieved the book, I was impressed at the content and quality. This is a legitement college textbook that you would expect from a top-publisher. This textbook with other supplementary resources like Khan Academy is a perfect combination for learning Statistics without costing an arm and a leg. Just wish it had more visuals like graphs and charts, especially for the subject of this title. The free PDF on their website is perfect to have on a tablet for when the textbook is too heavy to carry around.

As I got this for my kindle, initially, the text was tiny. Thankfully, I enhanced it with one of kindle's magnifying modes. Once I'd sorted things out, I was able to (comfortably) read, the text of this course book. Very pleased. Thanks.

Giving this one star because, although it's free for Kindle, the Kindle version isn't actually compatible with Kindle Devices. I can get it delivered to my phone, or even Kindle for Mac, but not my actual Kindle (a Paperwhite that's three or four years old). Ridiculous.
