STEEL MATE H2 Helmet Brake Light and Running Light for Motorcycle Safety Rechargeable LED Signal Light for Helmet (WITHOUT ECU)

Okay, I actually only have one light on the rear of my motorcycle, so I guess with would be properly declared as a "2nd" light (LOL). This item installs in minutes and works as advertised. Instructions are clear and there is a template to help center the device on your helmet. Adhesive holds the magnet on very securely and the magnet is super strong to hold the light on. I recommend cleaning the helmet area with alcohol to ensure strong adhesion. The light can be removed with some force without upsetting the magnet. I installed this in about 10 minutes and went out to test it at night with an observer. The observer stated every time I hit my brakes, the helmet light came on within a second or two. I did this several times going up the street and was told it worked each time. The light is very bright and can be seen at far distances. There are different colors/combinations (red, blue, orange, rainbow) to choose and various lighting patterns. You may want to check with your local ordinances on colors and some of the flashing patterns, since some of these can mimic emergency or police vehicles which may get you in trouble. The battery lasts a long time and there is an indicator that lights up the lights in a row to let you know the charge level when charging. Charging is via USB and the cord is provided. This unit will shut off to save the battery if no movement is sensed for a period of time. Overall, I think this is a nice safety device and it works very well. The unit is very sturdy and appears to be of very high quality all around. I recommend it.

This light is absolutely amazing. Large in size and very bright. All of the different settings are really fun. Magnet that holds it on is super strong.

This light works great. It has long battery life, they say 18 hours and based on my experience I believe it. The lights are very bright and quite noticeable even in the daylight. The unit is a little heavier than I expected, but you don't have to leave it on your helmet all the time if you don't want to use it during the day, it easily mounts and unmounts via a magnet. I have not had any problem with the adhesive not sticking, it sticks very well and the magnet has never worked loose. I also like that you can buy additional mounting plates, so if you have multiple helmets you don't need to buy a light for each one. You can just buy a base for each helmet and then swap the light between them. I would definitely recommend this light.

I bought this a few weeks ago to increase my visibility from the rear. Riders behind me report it isn't very visible during the day, particularly in bright sunlight, but at night it's very bright. Not long after I bought it, I got caught in a bad thunderstorm - torrential downpour, lightning, thunder, wind. I noticed that cars behind me tended to keep their distance, and my husband, who was riding behind me at one point, said the light was very bright in the half-twilight. Also, in the downpour, the device proved it is waterproof! Though I tend to turn it on before I put the helmet on, if needed I can reach the on/off button with my right hand.Edit/Update:I got my helmet out of storage for spring riding and find that the adhesive is breaking down and not holding the light firmly to the helmet any more. I'm going to do what other reviewers have suggested and reinforce it with a command strip.

As all motorcyclists know being More visible to other motorists is very important for your own safety on the roads and this little device is a must for anyone who rides on two wheels. As all cars have a third brake light up high to catch the attention of the driver behind you now I have one as well to work in conjunction with my tail lights. Great idea! I purchased this about a week ago and I have it mounted on my motorcycle helmet that I use for my e-bike as well. As far as the flashing modes and the light itself it works very well. The unit is well made and solid and the mounting is excellent. The magnetic double-sided tape is extremely strong and it really holds on to the magnetic bracket very powerfully but it's also able to be removed and take off and turn on and off with the helmet on though you need to put some force into it.The only problem I'm having is with the brake light function. The first unit I had worked for about a day as far as the brake light function, though it never worked well, then it stopped working completely. The flashing modes and everything all still work perfectly fine. I tried it out at night and when I looked to the left a little bit I can clearly see the rainbow colored light flashing of the trees about 35 ft to my left. It was so bright I thought a police car or something was coming in the distance but it was actually the light from the helmet so it is definitely bright and will significantly increase your visibility at night. It's bright enough that I'm quite sure it is also very visible in the daytime as well.I ordered a second light hoping it was just a bad one I ended up receiving but sadly the second one has the exact same problem in that the brake light doesn't work on this one at all right out of the box. I tilted it numerous ways and moved it back and forth and the brake light does not come on at all. I emailed the company just yesterday so I haven't gotten a response yet though I'm not sure what they can do. I'm just wondering if there's a second mode or something I have to put the unit into though I don't see anything in the instructions. Seems to just be a flaw in the unit but it is so nice and bright and big that I will probably keep it anyway and return the second unit since that brake light doesn't work at all. It is still worth the money even just for the visibility but I really wanted it for its brake light capacity as well. That's why I only gave it 3 stars, but as far as brightness and visibility I give it 5 stars and for the mounting system as well.
